National Scrapbook Day Challenge

Since it is Derby Day here in Kentucky, not much of anything gets done around here....Thus, no big events except derby parties....
Since it is raining tomorrow, that also means no playing, so I decided to make a National Scrapbook Day Challenge at Sketches for You for kids to do!  I decided that tomorrow or Sunday you should let your child help you make something - or even make something all by themselves....be creative - a card, a scrapbook page, a game, whatever they would like!
Upload your image to the gallery at the Sketches for You website (see the link on the right hand column) and you and your child could be in a drawing for a prize of child friendly alphabet stamps!

Here's a sample that I made (daughter is in bed...) using markers and punches:

2 step with me!

There are only a few days left to enjoy 20% off select 2-step stamp sets.  This set is a personal favorite of mine.  I obviously love butterflies, so when you combine lots of choices for the butterfly wings and a punch that makes cutting it out a snap, then you've got me hook, line, and sinker!  Ot, maybe, body, wings, and antennae!!!  LOL!
Here's a 2-pager I made recently to use up some of my spring mini catalogue supplies.  The gorgeous Sending Love specialty paper adds plenty of sparkle, several eyelet punched edges, a top note die cut for journaling, and a polka dot embossed photo mat make for a sparkling page (the picture does it NO justice!).  I'll try to squeeze in another super cute project later this week!

Problem solved

A few days ago I posted that I had punched holes right through the edge of this piece of cardstock.  After some thinking, I decided to use some flower stickers from the Pina Colada Simply Scrappin' kit to cover up all those little holes.  After a little moving around, it worked to cover up all the holes.  I added a few Prima flowers and couldn't bear to throw away the packaging, so I just decided to use it as part of the background piece for the picture.

Clearance cards

Well, as you can see, I have been using some more of my clearance items to make a few cards.  If you know me very well, you know that I absolutely adore clearance items!  There's just something exciting about knowing that you got something really terrific for a really great price!
I made the card above for a few people who have not been feeling well lately.  I just thought that little doggy would certainly cheer someone up when they are not well!!
As for this card, I think I tend to run out of birthday cards and sympathy cards faster than any other card.  I think I need to plan another stamp-a-stack class...
I had a friend at church who just lost her father - just a few weeks after losing her mother.  I thought I'd make a card with a soft look that would cheer her spirit.  I liked using these little kisses (the die cut cards) to put my sentiment on - I added a button and a few little blue stick on pearls from the dollar store and had a nice, quick card.
You can't see it, but I added a little bit of the Bitty Backgrounds circles on the kiss diecut to add some texture behind the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Finally Finished page

Do you ever do this?  Get new supplies and get really excited and just make something....anything.....and then it just sits there.....for months.  I'm sure you never do that!  Unfortunately, it happens to me sometimes.  In the fall, I got this new paper and I just loved the whole color combination for fall pages.  I loved the addition of Taken with Teal to brighten up those pages.  So....I decided to make a lovely scrapbook page.   I used my new shimmer paint to make my own shiny paint for the title, I made shimmer mist to spray the vanilla cardstock, I added a journaling spot under the photo mat - I was very pleased with it.   And, then.....there it sat....looking lovely and lonely.  It's not that I didn't have pictures for it....they just never made it to the page!  Until now....

Enter The Pink Elephant Scrapbook Challenge - to take a former page and make it over.  Now, I realize that many people were taking old layouts from years ago and making them over, but I decided to do something different (no surprise there...I know....I'm always doing something different!)  I decided that for this challenge, I would make over this layout and actually finish it!   Thus, I came up with this second page based on a sketch from Sketches 4 All website, where I am on the design team.

Using the same paper and colors, I added a few leaves and several cropped 4X6 photos to the layout.

I took a little popsicle stick that says Savor the Moment and added it and really cropped down one 4X6 to fit in a little metal frame and finished it off with the same buttons and ribbon from the first page.

And here it is....the finished layout with pictures!  Finally....:)

OOPS!

Here's a quick post for today.  I made this page recently of us playing at the park on a lazy summer day.  I liked the exotic flowers with the layout and really liked adding a little different journaling and paper piercing....that is....until I realized I pierced right through to the other page, too!  OOPS!  Hmmm...What to do with the second page now...?

Pretty Peacock

Here's a card I made last night using the stamp set Very Thankful.  I decided to create my own color combo for this card - I used Taken with Teal, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, and Old Olive for the color scheme - a bit different, but I really like the way it turned out.  I colored the stamp using my stampin' write markers and then stamped it onto watercolor paper.  I used the air spritzer tool to add a mist of melon mambo onto the main image also.  I used up a few more scraps for the patterned paper spots and finished off with my usual bling - a few rhinestones - a combination of green and pink and a bit of crystal effects with dazzling diamonds on the peacocks circles and head feathers (not that you can see that!).  It's really pretty in person - pictures never do sparkles any kind of justice!

New baby cousin

Well, I've had this page finished for quite some time now.  I just haven't managed to figure out how to easily take pictures of layouts with my iPhone and upload to the blog.....ah the life of a non-techie....
Anyway, the other side of this layout is even prettier - it includes a few different and very beautiful pictures of my in-laws baby girl.  One of these days I'll get around to posting it, too.....
I used the Walk in the Park paper from last year's summer mini on this layout.
