Ewe are a Star

Ewe know, I can be a little silly when it comes to making titles.  I just can't help myself.  I see cute pics of my daughter dressed as a sheep and I just go with it!  Here are some pages I made with my Studio Calico Singin' in the Rain kit.  I am pretty sure these were meant for spring pics...but I'm not working on that now!  I liked the cloud paper with music in the background - it was just right for a page about the Christmas play the kids put on at church this Christmas!
Here's a closeup of the title - my cheesiness in action.  I had some old Simply Scrappin' kits with stars in it that matched perfectly in Basic Grey and Old Olive.  Fabric Thickers by American Crafts and some stickers made especially for Studio Calico finished it off.

Here is a pic of her baa-ckstage.....hee hee!  And drum roll, please.....here is the oh, so gorgeous doily punch!  I'm officially in love with it!  Down below is a closeup of the doilies.  I put little buttons, glimmer brads, and basic rhinestones in the middle.  I think the button assortment is from Crate Paper.

Sneakity peek with a quickie card from the grab bag

I have been making some cards and pages with some of the new punches from the upcoming catalogue this week, so here's a quick little card I made from my grab bag special and a few banner scraps from the petal cone die cut.
Pumpkin pie card base and ink for the Cute by the Inch image.  The Old Olive square came in the grab bag.  I added an inchie square and punched it out with the upcoming postage stamp punch.   Just a great little punch that is in the Shelli signature line.  I can see why!
Wait until you see the gorgeous page I made with my doily punch last night!  Oooh, la, la!  I love that punch!  You'll have to wait for some daylight for me to take a pic of it, though.
My sweet hubby has been working hard with all the other youth ministers to put on a Natalie Grant, Brandon Heath, and Mercy Me concert tonight.  It was well attended and the concert was awesome!  The best part is they broke even and maybe even made a few bucks (not much...but enough to have a start for another concert!)
Proud of you, baby!  But....now....I'm off to bed!

Grab Bag love

Here's a little grab bag love for you.  I purchased the different grab bags from the clearance rack.  I can't resist a good deal!  At first when I got my bags, I thought....what in the world am I going to do with all this stuff.
Well, I tell you what I started doing!  You can whip up a great set of cards so quickly with these grab bags!  Here are some samples of the stack of 20 or so cards that I made with just a few of the sets of cards and embellishments I received.
Both of these sets of cards were made with the Starring You stamp set.  This one is a tri-fold card.  This is the outside.
Here's is the next layer.  Then you can open it up for a greeting.
Finally, I ran out of sympathy and get well cards, so this card set made the perfect set of quick cards for my Love and Caring stamp set. Everything was stickers and I just added a few stamps and rhinestones to finish it all off.
I hope everyone had a blessed Easter.  I loved this picture from our Easter dramatization.  We don't do Easter or Christmas plays, but rather a dramatized sermon.  This year's Easter sermon was about the throne room of God.  Doesn't it make you long for heaven?

Ask Santa

Here is a little layout I made last night using Poppy Parade.  I have been a little hesitant to use this color for layouts, but I really ended up liking it for this Christmas layout.  It may just end up being the hot Christmas red color this year!
My patterned papers were leftover pieces of October Afternoon patterned paper from the CKC Convention.
Here is a closeup of the title area.  I used a tag, stickers and banner from the Studio Calico Singin' in the Rain kit.  I distressed the tag with Poppy Parade ink and stamped snowflakes in Marina Mist.  You also see the Vintage Snowman from one of the stamp sets in the mini catalogue.  I just love this Santa image.  It's so realistic looking.  I colored his face and added some shading to his beard image.  Next, I added some white fun flocking to his beard and hat.  Finally, I stamped the hat image onto some red material and cut the hat image out and stuck it on top.  It just adds a really nice texture to the layout.
In the corner are some swatches of patterned paper as well as a few journaling spots from the October Afternoon sticker sheet.  I added a tiny bit of Baker's Twine to the circle spot so it would look like an ornament hanging from the top of the page.
Hmmmm....I wonder what we'll tell Santa this year.....she tried to color herself like an Easter egg?   I tell ya....I left for an hour to go exercise and came home to hear her daddy say, "Mommy do you have the camera?"  I should have known something pretty silly was coming!  Thankfully it was washable.....hopefully none will show up in the Easter pictures after her bath!

Not Yet!

You may remember this page that I created a few weeks ago of my daughter in her Halloween outfit.  I really loved the layout and found out it got featured on the Practical Scrappers blog just the other day!  Yeah!
So, here's a little more of this Echo Park paper that I had leftover from my CKC convention.  Gotta' love all kinds of leftover paper!  Anyway, I used it for this layout of my daughter creating her gingerbread house.   I think the line of paper is called a Walk in the Park, but I thought the nice, vibrant colors were actually great for gingerbread house colors!  She was funny making this house, because she was ready to eat it before we could even start decorating it.  She gets a little excited about stuff!
I added a little Daffodil Delight paper behind the journaling spot and the title to make them stand out better.
Here are some of the leftovers.  I had a chance to start playing with my triple layer flower punch that is coming out in the upcoming mini catalogue.  It has a different feel at first because you are punching two to three times to get the paper punched, but it is super cool to get all the different types of layers from it!  I used the bottom layer in Daffodil Delight, then used the second layer - you can see it makes two different types of punches - the inside and the outline.  I used the outline for the center flower and the inside pieces for the two outside flowers.  Then I added a few rose red pearls in the center.
I'm feeling a little inspired to play with it again....maybe I'll go do that now!  :)

Easter's coming soon!

My daughter has been patiently awaiting the day she got to color her Easter eggs.  And she colored.....and colored.....and colored.....for two hours!  Mind you, there were only a dozen eggs!  She had a big time making these pretty!
Next on the list was making little treats for the youth group.  I wasn't sure if they would actually like these.   Let's just say that I made 47 and only came home with 2!  I think sometimes I underestimate how much the kids just adore getting treats made just for them!  They are just kids in bigger bodies, I think!  :)
I stole this idea from Julie's Stamping Spot, although I've seen this idea a gazillion times!  They were too cute and easy to pass up.
I used the new Four Frames set with Soft Sky ink and paired it with Teeny Tiny Wishes in Early Espresso.   And I must also give the hubs a shout out...he rearranged my nest until the peep looked right at me!  How can I not love that guy?  He's a match made in heaven!  :)

Lucky Girl challenge

I am always up for a good challenge that gets me to use up my supplies.  I found this sketch at Lucky Girl Crafts and decided it was worth a try.  I used up some more of my pieces from the March kit as well as some pieces from the July 2010 kit.
I didn't stray too far from this sketch.  The circle piece is actually the inside of the piece from yesterday's layout!  Again....I hid the star because I didn't need it for this layout.  I used the big shiny blue brad to create a pull tab for the journaling.  Here is what it looks like when you pull it out.

Snow Princess

I really think this circle die cut from Bo Bunny is meant for 4th of July pages.  But....I don't need that many 4th of July pages, so I just cut out the center around the circle and placed some more Cute Christmas paper behind it.  I added a few swirls, a few vintage embellishments from the Making Memories pack and stamped a little set of ornaments from the Cute Christmas stamp set.  I decided to put some stickers on that little metal banner to make my title and hid a little journaling piece in the corner.

Here's a closeup of that banner.  They're pretty neat.  You can also see that used plenty of Tea Stain distressing ink on my pieces out of the Distressing kit.

Christmas trim for the scrapbook page

I found this little green tinsel trim in a pack of Making Memories vintage Christmas items.  I thought it would really look neat if I made it look like I was trimming my paper with it.  I paired it with the Cute Christmas paper and big buttons.  I added a few rhinestones and used some fabric thickers from American Crafts.  I made the journaling spot using the Notes and Details stamp set and then used part of some packaging from Studio Calico underneath it.

Gingerbread house page

Look at this beautiful weather!  Well, admittedly, it was a little chilly, but it wasn't raining as it has been the last few days.  Here are my two sweeties at church this morning.
I have this awesome stack of Walk in the Park paper from Echo Park leftover from the CKC Convention.  It seemed perfect for this set of pictures of our gingerbread house!  I punched some squares and added a few Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight buttons and Espresso baker's twine and it was a quick page to finish!
There was a little journaling spot that was perfect for this page - it says, "Made by" and I had my daughter write her name.  It was a bit small for her, since she's only 4, but she got her name in there!

Cute cards

A couple of quick cards - we are on our way to a birthday party and the birthday girl sent her invitation dressed as Snow White - no better choice for a card than the Sassy Little Snowy from Sassy Studio Designs.
I found a website that is right up my alley - Easy Craft Projects challenge blog.   Their challenge is to create an Easter themed project, so I used a CTMH image.  It says, Peter Cottontail to me!
I colored both images with Copic markers.  Lots of different colors for a nice pleasing result.
Time for the party, though!

ScrapFIT Workout #42 - Back in the Day

It's time for another ScrapFIT workout!  Get your scrappy workout clothes on and get ready for
Workout #42 - Back In The Day

We often seem to concentrate on scrapbooking our current photos but for this workout we are going to dig out an old photo! Pull out the box under your bed and find a picture of you as a kid (any age)! Its important to scrapbook the past as well as the present! Lets see what look you give this page, will it be a vintage look or how about a retro 80’s look???

It just so happened that my mom happened to be cleaning out her closets the other day and found a whole slew of my old pictures.   Mind you, I ended up throwing several away and there were many that were stuck together.  But I decided to use these pictures from a 7 week mission trip to St. Petersburg that I took back when I was in college - about 15 years ago or so.
I had a kit leftover from one of the classes that I took at the CKC-Louisville.  I think it was fun with fabric.  I didn't want to do my layout exactly like the idea they had, so I just took the basic idea and did my own thing with the materials that were in the kit.  It was great October Afternoon paper and label stickers as well as some fabric Thickers from American Crafts.
I did hand cut the big yellow flower here, but for the rest of the flowers, I used my SU Sizzix dies.  I completely wear those flower dies out!  I love that they are so easy and so pretty to make!  Finally, I added a big yellow pearl brad inside a melon mambo button on the big yellow flower.  I also stitched melon colored embroidery thread on both of the yellow flowers to add a little life and color to their stems.
So head on over to the ScrapFIT workout blog page and get a little scrappy!  We have a great sponsor this month, Sweet Peach Crop Shop has generously donated 2 of their specialty Anniversary Kits to us this month!

Seriously hot (air balloon) card!

Okay, so I was reading my Papercrafts Magazine this month or maybe last and saw the new hot air balloon trend.  I got these terrific hot air balloon rub-ons from Studio Calico, so I thought this would make a great card.  The kit included some special Cosmo Cricket cloud paper made especially for Studio Calico and also a few cloud chipboard pieces that I spritzed Cool with Cool Carribean glimmer mist in the April Singin' in the Rain kit, so I thought I would combine those on a clear acetate card with some Old Olive scraps to make a scene.  Upon looking for a sentiment, I happened to come across this seriously hot arrow sticker that I had from an old Simply Scrappin' kit, so I thought it would be the perfect play on words for a hot air balloon card - I'll just have to slip it in the mail to my hottie hubby sometime this week to send a drive-by I love you to him!  :)

Late night scrapping!

Wow!  We had so much fun today at stamp club.  If you live near Somerset, Kentucky and ever want to have a squealing good time - literally - you should come join us sometime!  We had lots of fun today making the layout from yesterday and the gate fold card as well as this darling little Easter treat.  It's just a punch pal attached to a little cello bag of SweetTarts jelly beans.
Here's what you need:
2 scallop circles (2 3/8") - white (One for the front, one to cover the back of the bag)
2 wide oval - white
2 large oval - blushing bride
2   1/2" circles - white
2 rhinestones
1 tiny pearl
****Sponge all white pieces with blushing Bride ink.
Add a few whiskers with Basic Black Stampin' Write marker

After watching Soul Surfer last night - a superb movie choice - I decided to stay up and scrap.  Here's a layout I made using a few more pieces from the Lucky Girl Crafts kit.  I liked the picture of my daughter taking a break at dance practice in her homemade shirt.  I used the 3rd sketch from Kelly Purkey's sketchbook class and the title "Sweet" to go along with ScrapFIT's sponsor - Sweet Peach Crop Shop.  I liked it enough, I think I even made all the journaling go along with the title!
Sketches in Thyme is having a DT call!  Here is the layout they are using for applicants if you are interested.  You have until April 22 to submit your new layout based on this sketch.  Here's my layout based on the sketch.
I have almost used up this Lucky Crafts kit that I won.  This was the Making Memories background page.  I used the leftover scraps for the layers.  I found that the Day of Gratitude medallion stamp is nearly identical to the medallions on this paper, so I stamped it in Basic Black and distressed it with Tim Holz Natural Linen.  I finished off the last of my black rhinestones with a flourish underneath and topped it off with a red flower and a vanilla vintage adornment.
Finally....I finally finished this layout that I started at the CK Convention.  This is why I try to finish ALL of the layouts before I leave!  I just now got around to finishing it up.
Here is a closeup of the left page - a little yellow pom pom trim.  I really like the October Afternoon paper that they included - I love the mixture of vintage with bright colors!
And the rest of the stitching and flower rolling.....time consuming but cute!  Now......anyone have a solution for fitting these fat flowers into your scrapbooks?  I'm open to some ideas - this is a little thicker than my usual page.
Ta ta for now!

Club meets tomorrow! Here's a sneaky peek!

Hannah is our host for tomorrow's club meeting.  So, I thought I would use some of the new sneak peek products from next year's catalogue.  I used the Four Frames stamp set and the Paisley Prints paper to make both of these layouts.  On the top layout, I added the Elements of Style flower to the side using Crumb Cake ink on the same color paper.  One of the frames is a perfect match to that flower.
I stamped both of the frames first in Marina Mist and then chose a definition from Define Your Life to go inside.  I just added a few random pictures for each page.  These little 6X6 pages are great for those pictures that people give you that don't really go with anything else.
Here I made a gate fold card using the Nature's Walk stamp set.  For the background, I swiped More Mustard, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, and Chocolate Chip across a Very Vanilla piece of paper.  I then stamped the woodgrain background stamp and sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.

For the image, I used the Poppin' Pastels technique.  I started stamping the bird cage in VersaMark and used a sponge dauber to dab Chocolate Chip chalk pastels on top of the image.  Next, I stamped the bee in VersaMark and dabbed So saffron chalk on it.  Finally, I stamped the number stamp and dabbed Old Olive on top.  Very subtle, but effective for a pleasing result!

Hodgepodge layout with sketch #2 from Kelly Purkey's class

Well, I have to say, I think this is the only fall layout that I used the traditional black/orange color scheme on.  I like how it turned out okay, though.  My idea took a while to come together.  I used a hodgepodge of stuff.  I started with some leftover Basic Grey paper from the CK convention a month ago.  I added a layer of Basic Black paper and took strips of paper from my Studio Calico kit - I'm thinking it is Cosmo Cricket.  I used some more scrap pieces of Studio Calico paper from my class and added 3 sets of letter stickers.  Studio Calico, Mariposa (can't think of the brand), and Fabric Thickers from American Crafts.
I added a touch of Dazzling Diamonds to my crow so it was dolled up a bit and put a Prima flower on top of the Basic Grey sticker flower.
And the next layout is.....oh, it's Halleigh - she wanted to be the next scrapbook page I took a pic of!  What do you think?  I think it's the best layout yet!
