Blooming with love

Here is a card I cased from lots of different examples everywhere. My mom and I both absolutely love flowers, so I couldn't resist doing this little pocket card! I also finally learned how differently the blender pens and the aqua painters work! Aqua painters are the definite choice when working with a large area like the rose.

And here is the insert for the pot. I just really liked the sentiment on this stamp from the 8 Great Greetings stamp - but I didn't think the flower on that particular stamp matched the flowers I was using. Therefore, I only markered on the sentiment so I could use the part that I really liked.

Yes...another baby shower!!!

Since I have been incredibly busy this past week, I decided to make a very quick card for my husband's cousin. As usual, I used a bunch of scraps. I don't ever think the colors look exactly as they should, but this is pink passion, pixie pink, whisper white, and basic black. The stamp is from the "8 Great Greetings" stamp set from the mini catalogue. The pink scraps use some old stamps from a year ago - maybe Bitty Backgrounds and another set...I can't remember...they were my friends stamps and I liked them, but I never did anything with my papers! I decided they were perfect for the layers of a card, though.

Happy new baby!

You know, it's funny how I can go forever without any baby showers to go to, and this week I have three! I guess all good things come in threes. Anyway, I used another image from the fun and fast notes stamp set to make this card. Again, all scraps were used for this card, a little watercolor...and it's done!

Can you tell I'm having a super busy week again? I am just happy to be getting posts up...hopefully my next posts will be a little more detailed...

Get well card

Since Toby's aunt had to have emergency surgery last night, I decided to promptly make her a get well card to send in the mail. Please pray for her - her daughter is having a baby shower for her first grandchild on Saturday, and I know she will be crushed if she is unable to attend!
As for the card, you can probably guess - all scraps of the bashful blue/certainly celery paper with some leftover scraps of Sale-a-bration paper. Sentiment is created on watercolor paper and colored with watercolor pencils and blender pens.

Big Shot Baby!

Here is a simple little onesie I made for my soon to be nephew, Gage Michael. I wanted to make something that was not too girly, but still simple and handmade from his aunt. I took a onesie and the star die cut for the big shot and ironed on a layered star pattern. Then I made a card to match. I'm sure he will be much more excited about the jump-a-roo we got him, though!

Sympathy card

I made this card for a dear couple at church. I used Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, and Sweet Always DSP. In addition, I used the Stitched Exotics stamp set and the Best Yet stamp set. The sketch for the card came from an example made by Andrea Walford.

Father's day card

I got this idea from the last issue of Papercrafts magazine. I thought I would use the idea of making a card that (somewhat) resembled a man's shirt/tie. I added a pocket to it. The Baja Breeze tie is still a little narrow and not very manly, but it was the only SU ribbon that I had that matched this paper. I am still not sure if I like it yet. I have a workshop Monday, and they wanted a Father's day card that the students at the daycare could make. What do you think?

Daddy's birthday

My brother and my dad both have a birthday very close together. Since we just got back from a trip to Florida on Sunday and Daddy's birthday is today, I didn't attempt to do any complex kinds of cards for him.
I always think of daddy when I see this stamp in the Goody-Goody Gumdrops set - an ice cream sundae with a cherry on top. Daddy loves cherries, so I thought a nice, simple card would be just right for him!
My color combo is Kraft paper base, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red DSP, and Very Vanilla. I used watercolor paper for the ice cream image - it looks so pretty with the watercolors. I'm going to have to work on my shading to make it more interesting....

Mother's day album that kids can create

I'm going to do a workshop next week for a friend who runs a daycare here in town. One of the projects she asked me to make was something that children could make for their moms for Mother's Day. So, I decided a great present that every mom would love would be a paper bag album in which children could write (or have written for them) their favorite thoughts and memories of their moms.

The top picture is the cover page of the album. All supplies (other than the paper bags) are Stampin' Up products. I have used Rasberry Tart paper, Kiwi Kiss, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Whisper White, and Cameo Coral throughout the album. The front of the album uses Jumbo pewter eyelets and Jumbo white grommets. The ribbons used are the stitched grosgrain rose red and old olive grosgrain. I used two stamp sets throughout the album as well - Lovely Letters and the new Great Friend set from the Occasions mini catalogue.
I simply made a Microsoft Word document for all of the journaling prompts and printed them out for each page. There are two pockets which allow room for additional journaling and pictures.
A little eyelet border punch and photo corner punch to spruce up the pages...
And, finally, the heart to heart punch finishes off a page for the child to sign their name. Ta-da!

Inkerz away, mates!

I am back from vacation and back to work (and play, too, of course!). While we were at Sea World in Orlando, Florida last week, we promised our daughter we would ride the merry-go-round. She would ride the merry-go-round ALL DAY LONG if we would let her!!!
Anyway, we were asking her what types of sea creatures we were each on while we were riding and my husband said, "Do you know why mommy is on the squid? Mommy likes ink so much, she thought she could get a free ink pad if she rode the squid!"
Ha! Ha! He cracks me up! I'm just glad he supports my hobby, I guess. I thought you all would like seeing the picture of me dreaming of ink on the squid! So, inkerz away, stampers and scrappers!
