Madison Avenue card

IMG_0707.JPG (2)

I got the inspiration for this card from an idea my downline, Carol Manning sent me that she saw on Barb Mullikin’s blog.  I took the same basic idea and used my stamps and paper to create this card.  It’s actually brighter and prettier in real life!

Stamps:  Madison Avenue

Ink:  Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango

Paper:  Pool Party, Sycamore Street DSP

Accessories:  Floral Framelits, Sycamore Street ribbons and buttons

Valentine Treats

IMG_0807.JPG (2)

These are the Valentine treats my daughter and I made this year.  I bought the heart shaped treat cups on clearance – I couldn’t pass up a dozen for $0.59!!!

Needless to say, they were the main portion of the valentine treats.  My daughter has a strong opinion about the crafts she makes, so while this is not the way I personally would have made the treat cups….they were not my treat cups to give out!!!

IMG_0808.JPG (2)

I was very proud that she wrote all of her classmates names and signed her name to each of her valentines.  It probably helped that she is 6 now…and she got an M & M for each one she completed!  Winking smile  Hey, it worked in lightning fast time!

And, these butterflies were such a hit, I decided to make them for her teachers, the special teachers, and the front office staff/custodians.  I think they all liked them!  Smile

Papillion Potpourri

I have loved the combination of the butterflies in the Papillion Potpourri stamp set and the punches since I first saw them.  I put them to good use the other day when I created these cards!

IMG_0839.JPG (2)

For this card I chose to use a larger butterfly directly on the Pool Party Paper.  I colored it with Island Indigo, Concord Crush, and Pool Party.

IMG_0840

I stamped a smaller butterfly here.  I first colored it with Pool Party and then outlined the main edges with Concord Crush.  For a finishing touch, I thumped the middle parts with Island Indigo.

IMG_0838.JPG (2)

Here I decided to put the two together.  I didn’t outline the larger stamp with Concord Crush here, so it is a little bit lighter.  Overall, I thought they all turned out nicely!

Stamps:  Vintage Verses

Ink:  Pool Party, Island Indigo, Concord Crush

Paper:  Pool Party, Concord Crush

Accessories:  Small Butterfly punch

Color Challenge

It’s funny that this color challenge inspired this particular card.  Here is the color combo:

I ended up making two of the same cards with a different color combo on each.   The card design was inspired by Mary Brown’s card.  I fell in love with her card the first time I saw it!

Here are two cards that I made that are similar to her card (hers is much more beautiful and striking!)

IMG_0857

Here was the first card that I made – I started with a Daffodil Delight base and stamped Daffodil Delight for the woman.  I stamped the image again in Melon Mambo and fussy cut around the boots and umbrella.  Here the blue is actually Midnight Muse.

While I loved the pop from the Melon Mambo, I wasn’t crazy about the tone on tone Daffodil Delight image – not strong enough.

IMG_0858.JPG (2)

Enter the color challenge…..I switched out the ink pad colors – the main image is Crumb Cake – you can see it much more clearly.

I switched the umbrella, sentiment, and boots for Not Quite Navy – it’s very vibrant in the picture.  I also added Marina Mist raindrops from her hand.  I guess in retrospect maybe I should have moved the raindrops elsewhere…..oh well, overall I was pleased with the cards!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Stamps:  Million-Dollar Moments

Ink:  Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy

Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Whisper White

Vintage Verses Card set

IMG_0662.JPG (2)

I cannot take credit for the ideas behind this set of cards.  The original idea with more details and a different color scheme were created by Melissa Davies.

IMG_0663

To create my cards, I started with a  color scheme from the Color Coach.  Crumb Cake, Perfect Plum, and Rasberry Ripple.  I don’t use those two colors often, so I chose them to work out of my comfort zone.

IMG_0664.JPG (2)

As you can see, the hexagon shaped honeycomb embossing folder was highlighted on all of the cards.

You also notice all of the different stamps from the Vintage Verses stamp set – this stamp set is available for FREE with a $50 purchase!!!  Great vintage look to these stamps!

Pieces from the scrap stash

IMG_0722.JPG (2)

I needed just a single quick card the other day, so I revived a few pieces from scraps laying around the desk to whip this card together.  Sorry for the weird angle – I tried to get a better pic, but it was blurry!

This is Concord Crush paper with some OLD, did I mention OLD….rub-ons for that popping white color on top.  I punched a butterfly out of a scrap of Pool Party and popped a few rhinestones on to finish it off.  Q-U-I-C-K!

Paper:  Concord Crush, Pool Party

Accessories:  Rub-ons (retired), Small butterfly punch, Basic Rhinestones

Madison Avenue card

My downline, Carol Manning, turned my attention to a demonstrator from the UK by the name of Jenny Moors.  I had never heard of this gal, but after checking out her blog, I decided I really like her!

Here’s a card I made last night that was inspired by one of her cards:

Baby Prints scrapbook page

When I saw this sketch over at Create with Connie and Mary, I immediately saw a scrapbook page rather than a card!  I sure am glad, because I was able to create this page with a few darling pictures of my baby Owen when he was just 2 months old.  Just look at those first sweet little smiles!  He’s all smiles all the time (mostly!) now, so it’s precious to remember those moments when they were just beginning to start happening on a regular basis.

IMG_0659.JPG (2)

Sorry for the glare…I used the Sycamore Street DSP for the page and Sahara Sand for the base of the page.

I decided since this page just focused on him, I would use the Baby Prints stamp set – I stamped the hands in Sahara Sand and the title in Island Indigo.  I added a few of the Tangerine Tango buttons from the Sale-a-bration pack for accents and tied each of those with Pool Party baker’s twine.

Stamps:  Baby Prints

Ink:  Island Indigo, Sahara Sand

Paper:  Sahara Sand, Sycamore Street DSP

Accessories:  Tangerine Tango buttons (SAB), Pool Party Baker’s Twine
