Jimmy Buffet inspired page....

One of my hubby's best friends turned 40 this year.  Toby got inspired by a Jimmy Buffet song, "Pirate at 40" to have a pirate themed surprise party for him.  JimPat absolutely loved it and all the boys had a great time!  I couldn't resist a pirate themed page to go with their silly pictures.

Sketch-a-thon is almost over

Boo hoo!  The Sketch-a-thon is almost over!  I think you have until October 4th to finish any of the layouts and get in on the RAKs that are being given away!  Here's what I did with this sketch.  I took a Big Shot diecut to make the swirls and just cut it apart to make it the way I wanted.  I inked everything up with some more tea stain from the distressing kit and sanded up a few more stickers.  Finally, I took a sticky cut star and smothered it with orange glitter to add some bling to the shabby chic look! 

Simple and sweet card

Well, I guess there is glitter on the scanner!  This card is one of those super simple, but yet striking cards.  I just used the get well soon bandaid image and a red heart punched out to make this card.....that's it!  How is that for quick - we had a flash fire at a factory in our town this past weekend, so Saturday morning we had to make a trip to the hospital in Lexington, KY to see some of our church members.  I didn't have much time to make a card, but I remembered seeing a similar card at convention.  It was done in less than 5 minutes!  (Finding my stamp sets in my drawers took longer than making the card!!!)  Anyway,  this is not my typical style, but I liked it.  I think we'll make some more at the stamp-a-stack for world card making day Friday!

Fun layouts with sketches this weekend!

Okay, so I've fallen in love with another sketch site - you can find the link on the right.  It's called Sassy Lil' Sketches.  Here is a sketch I found on the website and the layout I made using it.  I used SU papers, chipboard, and felt flowers.  The stamp set was Tart and Tangy.  I also used some stickers from The Sweet Life, a felt sticker from Prima, a journaling spot by Jenni Bowlin, and some ribbon from my stash.   

For the other side of the page, I used a sketch from Sketches for All.  The only other thing I added here was a title from Me and My Big Ideas and a tiny tag by American Crafts.

A new style for me

I was challenged to try a new style this week, so I tried the shabby chic style.  I absolutely adore that style of papercrafting, I'm just not good at it.  I used a sketch by Cherie Averill over at Sketches for All.  I distressed everything - brads, stickers....you name it!  I also inked everything up and curled little parts of paper with the distressing kit and tea stain ink.  I don't remember the name of this Simply Scrappin' kit - maybe all boy?

Plain and simple thank you card

Here's a card I made last night in my 20 spare minutes before bed....
I used leftovers from last year's spring designer paper.  I layered a few scraps and punched the large 2 1/2" circle out of another scrap of paper.  I stamped the turtle in StazOn and watercolored/glittered the image and added a few dots with my marker.  Finally, I punched the image out with the extra large scallop circle and had a quick card for the neverending pile of thank yous that I need! 

Scrap-a-thon happening at Sketches for All! Scrap away to try for RAKs!

Here are a few layouts that I actually got to make in the last 3 crazy hectic weeks!  I have hardly had time to breathe, much less scrap!  Anyway, I got to play with this new line of paper and embellishments designed by Nikki Sivils called Tree Love.  Hence, all the cute little trees! 
I sponged my vanilla background with pear pizzazz and spritzed it with log cabin smooch spritz.  I cut out most of the paper and embellishments from the paper - it was too cute to leave out!  I used the buttons to make a dot for the "i" in hike and added them to the corner of the picture on top.  I loved the little trees, so I sponged them with chocolate chip ink and added glitter to the trees to make them even cuter!
